Oil and the City (Pilot 2005) – Projects

The pilot Oil and the City (2005) comprises of three projects:

  • Oil, Fish and Beer (New Social Art School featuring Anne Britt Rage, Kristina Lauche, Eva Merz)

    As part of the OIL and the CITY project for OE 2005 NEW SOCIAL ART SCHOOL, featuring Anne Britt Rage, Kristina Lauche and Eva Merz, produces a video documentary about the oil industry in the North Sea comparing Norway and Scotland in particular.

  • toward sublimity (Bill Thompson)

    this work is a multiple speaker audio/visual installation that explores the sounds and images of an off shore oil rig. since moving to aberdeen and living off of the north sea, i have been fascinated by these structures. the sounds and images experienced by the men and women who spend so much of their time on these rigs are indeed some of the most beautiful, intense, and unique in the world. this first piece, in a proposed series of installations

  • Petro-dependent? (Duncan Hart)

    Petrochemicals and their by-products are so prevalent in our daily lives that it is easy to take them for granted. Our consumption of oil and gas carries with it the problems of pollution, global warming and persistent plastic waste not to mention the issue of finite resources. All these associated problems made me wonder how vital petrochemicals are to life and in the spirit of investigation I decided to put it to the test.
